Outlanding Paddock Selection
The ability to choose and successfully land in a field away from your home airfield is an essential part of the sport of gliding. At Lake Keepit we have a programme specifically designed to give you the skills to do this safely.
Pilots will often start by improving their skills in spot landings on the main runways, before moving on to our short cross strip at the end of runway 14, under the supervision of one of our instructors. For many students their first ‘real’ out-landing experience may be at one of the small private strips on local farms where we have permission to land. If completing the out-landing component of your C Certificate is your goal, or if you just want to improve your out-landing skills, LKSC can help you with this.
Garry Speight has written an informative article “Outlanding, not outcrashing” that was published in Australian Gliding in March 2015.
